Matthew Spangler’s plays have been produced on London’s West End, off-Broadway, and at theaters throughout the U.S., U.K., Canada, Ireland, France, Israel, and Pakistan. His adaptation of The Kite Runner will be at the Cork Opera House from June 12-16. Matthew’s newest play, All the Shah’s Men (San Francisco, 2018), looks at the CIA and MI6 led coup in Iran in 1953. His book, Staging Intercultural Ireland: New Plays and Practitioner Perspectives (Cork UP, co-edited with Charlotte McIvor), is a collection of plays, interviews, and essays examining theatre and interculturalism in Ireland during and after the Celtic Tiger. He holds an M.Phil. from Trinity College Dublin and a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is Professor of Performance Studies at San José State University in California.
